Terms and Conditions for Travelex Travel Money Online

Who We Are

This internet foreign exchange purchasing service (the "Service") is provided by Travelex Financial Services NZ Limited referred to as "Travelex" or “we” or "us" or "our", Registered Office: Level 14, Brookfield House, 19 Victoria Street, Auckland, registered in New Zealand. What These Terms Apply To

These terms and conditions apply to the Service - which consists of an online ordering facility for foreign currency ("Travel Money").

Use Of The Service

The Service is only available to individuals aged 18 years or over and who are resident in and accessing the Service from New Zealand. The Service may only be used to order Travel Money for holiday or business travel and not for speculative, investment or any other purposes.

By ordering Travel Money from us, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them and to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. Travelex reserves the right to refuse this Service to any person found to be acting outside these terms and conditions. The Service is only available for the currencies listed from time to time on the Travelex Travel Money website “My wallet” page.

All orders are subject to a minimum value of NZD250 and a maximum aggregate value of NZD5,000 within a 24 hour period (and maximum aggregate value of NZD20,000 within a 21 day period). Currency availability may also be subject to further monetary limits, currency exchange restrictions and customers abiding by these terms and conditions. These limits are subject to change from time to time at Travelex’s sole discretion.

You will not earn Qantas Frequent Flyer Points when ordering on-line at www.travelex.co.nz. We may from time to time conduct special promotions where we offer Qantas Frequent Flyer Points in which case the earning of any points will be subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant promotion.

Placing An Order

To place an order, follow the instructions on the Travel Money website ordering pages. You are able to correct errors on your order up to the point at which you click on the "Place your order" button on the “Checkout” page.

The exchange rates we quote are subject to change. We will use the exchange rate (as set by us) that appears on the “Checkout” page at the time we receive your order.

You must provide the requested information for us to process your order. We reserve the right to request further information from you at any time to enable us to complete your order and / or to comply with regulatory requirements. We will use various procedures to authenticate each transaction. By placing an order, you confirm that the details contained in the order are correct in all respects. The system will display a confirmation page setting out the details of your order. This confirms receipt of your order.

A contract between you and us is only formed when we receive your Bill Payment and send you a confirmation email that your order and payment has been accepted. Please print a copy of the confirmation page for your records and also print the payment confirmation email and bring it to the store for collection as you will need to present the confirmation email to collect your order. We may, at any time, decline to process your order or any part of your order for any reason including where insufficient or incorrect information has been provided, authentication has not been possible or an exchange rate has been quoted in error.

You will be required to pay for the Travel Money via Bill Payment within 12 hours of the placement of your order, otherwise we will cancel your order.

Business Day means Monday to Friday excluding National Public Holidays and Bank Holidays in New Zealand. For orders made after 3pm on a Business Day, an additional Business Day is required to ensure the order is ready for collection.

Payment via Bill Payment

When making your payment via Bill Payment, please ensure that you enter the details exactly as instructed in the confirmation email and as set out below, otherwise we will not be able to recognise your payment and your order will be cancelled.

  • Biller: Travelex Financial Services NZ Ltd.
  • Particulars Field: Enter the full name of the person who made the order
  • Code Field: Enter your phone number
  • Reference Field: Enter the Order Reference Number in your confirmation email

For orders to be collected from an airport location and paid for via Bill Payment, Travel Money may be ordered between 3 Business Days and 21 days in advance of the collection date.

For orders to be collected from a non-airport location and paid for via Bill Payment, Travel Money may be ordered between 5 Business Days and 21 days in advance of the collection date.

For any Bill Payment you must make payment within 12 hours of the placement of your order otherwise we will cancel your order.

Payments via Bill Payment must be made from the account of the person obtaining the Service and not from a third party bank account.

Collecting Your Travel Money

Orders can be collected from the Travelex locations or Travelex agent locations listed on the “Collection location” page. Collection is subject to the opening times of the collection location. Details of the opening times of the collection location will be notified to you at the time of the order and can be obtained on the Travelex website. Please note that once you have placed your order, you cannot change the nominated collection location. Please remember to allow sufficient time to make your collection before departing. In certain limited circumstances, we may change the collection location and/or time by notifying you prior to the collection date if we are unable to fulfil your order from your nominated collection location or by your nominated collection date.

At the time of collection you will need to produce the following:

  1. a print out of your confirmation email or your order reference number; and
  2. one of either a current passport, or a current New Zealand driver’s licence with photo.

You will be required to sign for your order at the time you collect it.

The above requirements are in place to comply with regulatory requirements and/or to protect you from fraud. If you are not able to produce the above items at the time of collection we may not be able to provide you with your order and your order may be cancelled by us.

Fees and Charges

The total sum payable by you will be shown on the “Checkout” page.

You can pay for orders via Bill Payment via a bank account with sufficient funds available to cover your order and any applicable fees.

Cancelling Orders paid for via Bill Payment

You may cancel your order at any time prior to collection, subject to your payment of the cancellation fee of NZD25 (inc. GST).

To cancel an order you must notify us by contacting our Customer Service Centre either by phone on 0800 666 391, (7am – 7pm Monday – Friday and 9am – 5pm Saturday, Australian Eastern Standard Time), or by email to TravelMoneyOnline@travelex.co.nz. You will need to provide your details and your order reference number. You will then need complete the declaration form supplied by Customer Service Centre and return to Travelex. Refunds for cancelled orders will only be made after you have contacted us as set out above and a correctly completed declaration form is received from you.

Once we have received your correctly completed declaration form,, we will then process your refund (minus the cancellation fee of NZD25) to your bank account. We will send a tax invoice for the cancellation fee to the email address provided by you with your original order.

Please note that, due to the banking system, it may take up to 10 working days after we process your refund to reach your bank account. Due to security reasons and to protect you from fraud, Bill Payment refunds can only be made to the account from which the payment originated.

Uncollected Orders

Should you fail to collect your order from the nominated Travelex location within 72 hours of your chosen collection time, your order will be marked as Uncollected and treated as a cancellation, and you will become liable for the NZD25 cancellation fee. If you cancel an order that was originally paid for via Bill Payment, Travelex will then attempt to contact you to arrange for you to return the correctly completed declaration form, upon receipt of which we will process your refund in accordance with the procedures set out above. In the event that we are unable to contact you within 90 days of the date that you placed your order and you have not collected or cancelled your order in accordance with these terms and conditions then we will cancel your order and any funds held by us at that time will become the property of Travelex.

The provisions of this cancellation clause do not affect your statutory rights.

You agree that all information provided by you is true and correct, that any material information will not be withheld and you will provide us with any additional information that may be required by us. Travelex may require additional information from you in order to comply with regulatory requirements.

Limiting Our Liability

We use reasonable care and skill in providing the Service. However, we shall not be liable to you for the following:

  1. if we are unable to perform any of our obligations to you due to failure of any technical systems or for any other reasons beyond our reasonable control including, amongst other things, war, terrorism, government action, natural disaster, and industrial dispute;
  2. for any damage to your computer equipment as a result of using this website or the Service;
  3. for any indirect, or consequential losses, claims or damages suffered by you or incurred from your use of the website or the Service however caused;

Our maximum liability to you in respect of each use of the Service for a Travel Money order shall be to refund the purchase price of that Travel Money order. The disclaimers and limitations of liability in these terms shall not apply to any damages arising from death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Travelex or any of its employees or agents or for fraud. If any provisions of these terms including these disclaimers and limitations shall be unlawful or unenforceable then such provisions shall fall away and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining terms. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Under New Zealand laws we are prohibited from dealing with persons or entities on the United Nations sanctions list. If it appears that you are a sanctioned person, or are acting on behalf of a sanctioned person or entity, we may be require to suspend or stop providing services to you. We may also be required to freeze any transactions with you and freeze any assets of yours which we hold.

Alteration Of Terms

We may, at any time, with immediate effect, in respect of future orders, change or withdraw the website, the Service and these terms without liability to you. If we revise these terms, we will post the revised version on our website at www.travelex.co.nz. By using the Service or placing orders after we have changed these terms, you will be accepting the changes.

Third Party Rights

When you place an order for Travel Money we are entering a contract with you personally. Nothing in these terms will confer any benefit on any third party or any right to enforce these terms.

Law And Jurisdiction

Our relationship shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws in Auckland. Any dispute, which cannot be resolved between us, shall be resolved in the courts of Auckland.
